CHILDREN &
TEENAGERS
WE VALUE THE EARLY YEARS AND
KNOW YOU DO TOO
AT TK&S YOU ARE
IN GOOD HANDS
It is statistically proven that 20 per cent of children see print this way:
These children cannot control their eye movements at close ranges, and as a result they fight double vision every day, especially when reading. Others may struggle with print that blurs or appears to jump around. This inevitably affects their performance at school and their confidence.
At TK&S we provide a comfortable and friendly environment that enables youngsters to feel at ease while having their eyes examined. We understand that an unfamiliar environment can be intimidating so we try to make the whole experience as fun as possible.
WE LOOK FOR THE...
EARLY WARNING SIGNS
Here are some common symptoms to look out for:
- Excessive blinking
- Squinting or screwing up the eyes to see
- Peering closely at books and screens
- Clumsiness
- Poor performance at school
- Reluctance to read
- Headaches
The likelihood is that everything will be fine, but it’s always better to be safe than sorry. The sooner any problems are detected the quicker they can be rectified and your child can start to fully enjoy their vision again.

WHEN SHOULD I TAKE MY CHILD
FOR AN EYE EXAMINATION?
In order to prevent unnecessary problems arising we recommend that all children have a comprehensive eye examination from the age of three or before, and if all is ok then at least every two years after that. We are more than happy to see even small babies to ensure normal development.
If there is a family history of squint (where one or both eyes turn in), or a lazy eye, or if either of the parents wore spectacles or attended a hospital because of eye problems at an early age then a child should be examined early. If either parent suspects a problem at any time or is worried, even if there is no family history of eye problems, then the child should be examined at that point.
It’s never too soon to start caring for your children’s eyes.
